The Danish padel national teams did not get a World Cup ticket. At the European World Cup qualifier in Madrid at the end of September, both the women’s and the men’s national teams lost to Germany, and Denmark will therefore not take part in the World Cup in Qatar in November 2026.
Close for the women
According to the Danish Padel Federation, the women’s national team lost the deciding match against Germany 2–1 in matches on 26 September:
| Match | Danish players | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Gitte Haxen / Maria García-Rasmussen | Win 6-3, 6-1 |
| 2 | Julia Wiese / Mie Skov | Loss 6-3, 6-7, 4-6 |
| 3 | Simone Alipieva / Sille Tranberg | Loss 0-6, 2-6 |
The second match was especially close: Wiese and Skov won the first set and saved a match point, but were beaten in the third set. National coach Nikolaj Søgaard expressed disappointment with the result.
Exit for the men too
The men’s national team did not get the ticket either, as Germany was also too strong on the men’s side. The qualification brought together teams from 29 European nations, and there were only two World Cup places per gender.
What does it mean for Danish padel?
Although the national teams missed the World Cup, interest in padel in Denmark remains high. With more than 500 courts in Denmark according to The Padel Blueprint’s count from February 2026, the sport has become a fixture in many clubs and centres – and competition for the best courts and facilities is increasing.
